Understanding Building

New Builders will be assigned to the practice area to create 1 room, 1 mob, and 3 various objects. The theme has to fit the fantasy medieval theme in order to show that the builder understands the MUD environment, but also shows us how much they are able to understand about OLC (OnLine Creation).

Don’t forget to check out our area guidelines by looking over the following helpfiles:
help room guidelines
help object guidelines
help mob guidelines

There is also a central list of helpfiles for builders located at: help builder information

Once finished your practice room, let Crystal know so that she can check it over.

Your practice vnums will then be reviewed for quality, grammar, and detail. If your practice room is not up to par, you will still be eligable for beta testing. Otherwise you’ll be asked whether you want to do an area of your own, or whether you’d like to do one that we assign you

Once you decide on an area, submit and area proposal to Crystal with all of the required information (help proposal).

If your proposal is accepted, you’ll be handed vnums to get started!

Vnums work like this:

If your area has, 75 rooms, 61 objects, 70 mobs, you will need 75 vnums.
Assigning 75 vnums to an area, gives you 75 rooms, 75 objects, and 75 mob vnums to work
with.

Creating an area:
You are responsible for your own area. Should you wish to work on another area, you need to ask permission from Crystal. If you are given permission to work on another area, this does not mean you have the authority to add others to the area. If a builder tries to ‘sneak’ changes in without authorization, they will be removed from the builder.

If you crash the builder, contact Varick, Pip, or Crystal via e-mail and we’ll take care of it.
Crystal – crystal@adventmud.org
Pip – pip@adventmud.org
Varick – varick@adventmud.org
E-mail all of the immortals at: imm@adventmud.orgt

We don’t mind having a fun and friendly environment on the builder. But lets keep it just that, goofing off is tolerable but do not disturb other builders while they work.
