There are several methods to saving your area so you do not lose any work. It is extremely important that you save often. There will be instances where the builder will crash or you will forget to save, and we reboot the builder, and you will lose all of your work. Any major changes, or every 10-15 minutes or so are recommended and ideal for saving.
I also suggest setting up an alias, so it will be very easy with just a few strokes of the keys to save your area. Personally I have one set as /save, which then sends the commands: done, edit area, asave area, done. This is the most popular for saving your own areas, while in your area.
Note: Backups on areas are done once a week or so, currently. But when the MUD has a constant flow of builders and areas being made, backups will be made daily.
Below are several other methods of saving:
asave <vnum> – Saves a specific area. By typing: alist, you are given a list of all the current areas on Advent, and their own specific vnum. For example, Thelasia is #3. So if you type: asave 3, it will save Thelasia.
asave list – This saves the area.lst file which contains the names of all the areas, and the specific order they load in. This should not be used, as it is not necessary.
asave area – This command saves the area that you are editing. You can only do so if you have permission in the area. You must be -in- the area to do so. To asave your area type: edit area, asave area, done
asave changed – This command saves all the recently changed areas. Just type: asave changed and it should show you a list, if any, of the areas changed, including yours, and saves them.
asave world – This command saves all of the areas in the game. You can only save the areas you have permissions in. (Your security level or higher)
