Object Resets

The first thing you need to do in order to reset an object is to go to the room you want to reset the object in.  Once there you should look over the help reset file.  You only need to reset an object once for each place you want it to appear.  The same goes for mobs.  You don’t need to reset them every time you purge the room and make a change.

Once in the file you’ll see: RESET
<number> OBJ <vnum> <location on body>

RESET <number> OBJ <vnum> inside <obj vnum> [limit] [count]

RESET <number> OBJ <vnum> room

If you just want to reset your object to show up in the room on the ground, you follow the last reset. RESET <number> OBJ <vnum> room

In order for the object to show up you will need to reset the area by typing: edit area, reset To see any changes appear after you’ve already reset, just purge the room and reset the area again.  You DO NOT have to reset the object, once it’s set to reset in that room that’s it.

If you wish to reset an object inside of another object, you will need to reset the object that will be containing the other object FIRST. Then you will type:  RESET <number> OBJ <vnum> inside <obj vnum> [limit] [count]

<obj vnum> This is the first object you reset, you will set the second
object INSIDE this one.

[limit] This is how many items you want to reset inside the object, I -think-.

[count] – This does something but we don’t know what yet 😛

In order for the object to show up you will need to reset the area by typing: edit area, reset

Lastly if you want to reset an object ON a mob, you’ll need to reset the mob FIRST, then you type: RESET <number> OBJ <vnum> <location on body>

To see a list of different locations on the mob body you can reset objects type: ? wear_loc (none would be into the mobs inventory)

In order for the object to show up you will need to purge and reset the area by typing: edit area, reset

Note: Keep in mind that if you wish to reset a mob and also reset objects popping on that mob, you will have to load the mob FIRST, and then the objects.  It must be done in order.  Also make sure that the mob is not too low level for the object level.

If you want to DELETE a reset, make sure you look at your reset list by typing: reset

Once you find the number of the reset you want to delete, type: RESET <number> DELETE

To exit the object editor, type: done

And be sure to -always- save your area by typing: edit area, asave area, done
