The first thing you need to do in order to reset a mob in a room is go to that room. Once there you should look over the help reset file. You only need to reset a mob once for each place you want it to appear. The same goes for objects. You don’t need to reset them every time you purge the room and make a change.
Once in the file you’ll see: RESET <number> MOB <vnum> [area max] [room max] – load a mobile
It’s pretty simple really, you type exactly what it says there and the mob should reset in the room.
Example: reset 1 mob 980 2 1
Which reads as: reset #1 will be mob 980 with 2 maximum in the area and only 1 reset in this room at a time.
<number> – This is the number of the reset in this room. If this is the first thing you’re resetting then this would be 1, the second thing you reset will be number 2, and so on. To see all resets in the room you are in type: reset
[area max] – How many of this particular mob you want to pop in your area. So if you want 40 guards running around, you set this to 40, and you will have no more than 40.
[room max] – How many of this mob you want to load in your room at a time. This does not prevent more than one mob from wandering into the room however.
Once you have reset the mob, if you type: edit area, reset, it should reset the area so that your mob/objects show up. To see any changes appear after you’ve already reset, just purge the room and reset the area again. You DO NOT have to reset the mob, once it’s set to reset in that room that’s it.
Lastly if you want to reset an object ON a mob, you’ll need to reset the mob FIRST, then you type: RESET <number> OBJ <vnum> <location on body>
To see a list of different locations on the mob body you can reset objects type: ? wear_loc In order for the object to show up you will need to purge and reset the area by typing: edit area, reset
Note: Keep in mind that if you wish to reset a mob and also reset objects popping on that mob, you will have to load the mob FIRST, and then the objects. It must be done in order. Also make sure that the mob is not too low level for the object level.
If you want to DELETE a reset, make sure you look at your reset list by typing: reset Once you find the number of the reset you want to delete, type: RESET <number> DELETE
To exit the object editor, type: done
And be sure to -always- save your area by typing: edit area, asave area, done
